this is the Ponte Milvio bridge in Rome, Italy. I love this place. See all of these padlocks? they were left by couples to symbolize that they want to stay together forever, that they want their love to last.Couples go to the bridge with a lock and usually write their names on it, and together they paddlock it to the chains and then throw the key into the water.. I guess to symbolize that they never want their love to end.I think it’s amazing, and one day, I hope to do this :) The first time I had heard of it was when I was watching “ho voglia di te" and I just thought the idea of it was not only so optimistic and romantic, but also incredibly beautiful.Since that movie, it has become somewhat of a phenomenon. People travel from all over the world to go to this bridge, and smaller towns and cities have even made their own equivalent. Everytime I see photos of the bridge i’m so inspired by the love that people share.I know that just because you put a lock on a chain & throw the key away doesn’t mean it will last forever..but I just love significance of it, and the promise people make when they do it.I definitely want to put a lock on there someday. :)
